Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum is overwhelmed with excitement as a result of the partnership between Asisat Oshoala and Desire Oparanozie in the attack.
Oshoala, the Barcelona Femeni star, and Oparanozie, the 2014 WAFCON highest goalscorer, played together yesterday for the very first time in over two years.
The pair led the attack of the Falcons and wreaked havoc on the opposition as Nigeria downed Haiti 2-1 in a friendly match in Turkey.
Waldrum was impressed with their performances, noting that the Haitians were lucky not to have conceded a goal from their excellent combination.
“It is good having Oshoala and Oparanozie in camp, also Vivian and Monday Gift back in camp with us,” Waldrum said per NFF TV.
“Desire(Oparanozie) and Asisat Oshoala have been out of camp for the past camps we have had.
“But it is not for lack of trying.
"We’ve wanted them in camp, but between Covid and club obligations and injuries, it’s been difficult.
“So I’m excited to see them playing together again and I’m anxious to see what they can bring.
"Especially at a critical team when we are preparing for the World Cup, we must get a solid lineup."
The Falcons will next face New Zealand, co-host of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, to wrap up international duties with Nigeria on April 11.
