WandaVision Season Finale: A Wonderful Conclusion To An Outstanding Series

WandaVision Season Finale: A Wonderful Conclusion To An Outs

The season finale of WandaVision is filled with breathtaking spectacle and cathartic moments, even though it may leave some fans a little bit disappointed.

Episode nine featured an award-worthy performance from lead actress Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda), a stunning battle between the two Visions, and surprisingly no major cameo as we were led to believe (major spoilers ahead!).

Continuing from where the previous episode stopped, Wanda's confrontation with the evil Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) saw her faced with making a heartbreaking choice; release the town of Westview from her hex and lose her family or leave the residents under her spell and keep her family.

While the two women duel with their metaphysical powers, Vision (Paul Bettany) shows up to offer a helping hand. Unfortunately, his evil twin joins the melee and he has to find a way to overpower him.

Meanwhile, Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) manages to escape the clutches of Evan Peters' character (who is acting under the influence of Harkness's powers) and joins Wanda and her family to defend themselves as soldiers arrive.

Personally, I was amazed by the visual effects in this last episode because Marvel went all out to deliver the best. At a point, I asked myself if I was watching a series or a movie. Everything was top-notch.

But more than the impressive visuals and the fantastic action, the raw emotions that tug at the viewer's heartstrings is what makes the last episode of WandaVision soar.

Olsen reaches deep down and gives what is arguably the best acting of her career yet. In the end, one can't help but feel for and root for Wanda because no matter how it ends, she loses.

Having been robbed of everything (her parents, brother, and lover), Wanda's descent into a dark path doesn't show that she has become the villain. It means that she is only human. That she manages to rise above it all and sacrifice all that she holds dear makes her a true hero.

For those hoping for another big villain to be unveiled, I'm sure you were as disappointed as I was. No one showed up as Harkness turned out to be the series' antagonist.

At the end of episode nine, there are a few things that leave a lasting impression. Firstly, the fact that the Sorcerer Supreme (Doctor Strange himself) is mentioned, Nick Fury wanting to see Monica, the other Vision's whereabouts, and Wanda's ability to project her astral form while still going about her normal activities.

All of the above will be explored in subsequent Marvel movies, I'm sure. Let me add that I recommend WandaVision for award nominations because it went beyond what many expected.

Fans were told to be patient with the show due to its unusual beginnings and in the end, those who followed through get rewarded for their patience.

Conclusively, WandaVision is for me, the best series 2021 has produced so far. The next phase of the MCU is heading in the right direction and I can't wait to see how the stories unfold.
