War Magician: Benedict Cumberbatch To Star In Colin Treverrow's Upcoming Movie

Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch has been cast in the lead role in War Magician, an upcoming film by director Colin Treverrow.

Per a report from Deadline, Cumberbatch will lead the cast of the World War II drama, with a script from E. Nicholas Mariani, based on the book by David Fisher.

Cumberbatch enthralled audiences with his wonderful performance as the sorcerer Doctor Strange in the Marvel movies, and here, he will play an illusionist.

War Magician is based on the wild tale of Jasper Maskelyne, a British illusionist who used magic to defeat Erwin Rommel in World War II.

Treverrow's interpretation will reportedly feature an international "magic gang" from Africa, Europe, and the Middle East who plan against Maskelyne and a female military intelligence officer to defeat the Nazis.

Benedict Cumberbatch is an English actor who trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, obtaining a Masters of Arts in Classical Acting.

He is a recipient of numerous accolades, including the Lawrence Olivier Award for Best Actor for Frankenstein and the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for Sherlock.
