WASSCE: WAEC Announces Official Date For 2022 Examination, Reverts To Former Calendar

WASSCE: WAEC Announces Official Date For 2022 Examination, R

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has disclosed the official date for the commencement of the 2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The Head of National Office of the council, Patrick Areghan made the announcement at a briefing on Monday in Lagos State.

He said the examination will hold between May 16 and June 23, 2022 for school candidates, noting the revert to the former calendar which was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Areghan said the reversion signified recovery from the effects of the pandemic.

“I am delighted to inform you that the conduct of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates, will take place between the 16th of May and 23rd of June, 2022 in Nigeria, spanning a period of six (6) weeks.

"The significance of this is that the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the various member States, save Ghana, have now again found a common ground in respect of their academic calendars.

"The revert to May/June period for the conduct of the examination should be celebrated.

“This shows a massive recovery from the devastating effects, disruptions and confusion caused by the pandemic.

"We must give kudos to the Honourable Minister of Education and his Ministry for this wonderful feat," Areghan said.
