Waste Disposal Contractors In Abakaliki Sacked By Umahi

Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi has ordered the sack of contractors handling waste disposal in Abakaliki, the state capital.

Umahi announced the sack of the contractors through a statement signed and issued to journalists by the Commissioner for Environment, Richard Nnabu.

“Following general laxities by contractors handling waste evacuation and general environmental cleanliness within Abakaliki Capital City, the Governor of Ebonyi State has therefore directed that all contractors involved in the exercise should be sacked with effect from 31st August 2022.

‘Consequently, the Ministry of Environment, therefore, requests members of the public interested in handling environmental sanitation and waste evacuation within Abakaliki Capital City to apply in writing to the office of the Commissioner within one week.

“Those to be engaged for the exercise should be able to demonstrate their competence and commitment to duties within 7 days otherwise be disengaged” he noted.
