Wave Of Defection Continues As Imo Senator Dumps PDP For Lab

The Senator representing Imo East Senatorial District, Francis Ezenwa Onyewusi, has decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to Labour Party.

Onyewusi's cross-carpeting was announced on Wednesday on the floor of the Senate by the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan.

According to the senator, his decision was based on injustice and inequity being practised in his former political party, which made him lose the primary election in his state.

The Labour Party has recently become a party of choice for politicians since the defection of former Anambra Governor, Peter Obi to the party.

Political heavyweights have also dumped the two major political parties, the PDP and the APC, to join either the newly formed NNPP or the Labour Party.

Recently, Senators Ahmad Babba Kaita representing Katsina North, Senator Lawal Yahaya Gumau representing Bauchi South, and Senator Francis Alimikhena representing Edo North, left the APC.

Also Senate Chief Whip, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe representing Abia South Senatorial District amongst others also recently dumped the PDP.
