We Are Optimistic About The Future — Chelsea Owners

The owners of Chelsea have affirmed their commitment and optimism for the future under newly appointed manager Mauricio Pochettino, following a calamitous season for the Premier League club.

The consortium, led by American businessman Todd Boehly and US-based Clearlake Capital, endured a challenging first year at the helm, marked by managerial changes and a disappointing 12th-place finish in the league.

Despite significant investment exceeding £500 million on player acquisitions during the owners' initial two transfer windows, Chelsea's season under managers Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, and interim boss Frank Lampard fell far below expectations. This 12th-place finish represents the club's worst performance since 1994.

In an open letter published on Thursday, the owners expressed their dedication to the long-term success of the club and their determination to fulfill their promise of making the fans proud. They acknowledged the disappointing season and their commitment to improve, stating, "For all the challenges of the past year, we are optimistic about the future."

The appointment of Mauricio Pochettino, the former manager of Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain, is seen as a pivotal step towards rejuvenating the struggling club. Pochettino's task is to revive Chelsea's fortunes after their recent Champions League triumph under Tuchel just two years ago.

Reflecting on their first year as owners, the consortium emphasized the privilege they felt in being the custodians of Chelsea Football Club, stating, "It was and remains a privilege for us to be custodians of our wonderful club."

While acknowledging the disappointments, the owners commended the achievements of the women's team, which secured their fourth consecutive Women's Super League title and third successive FA Cup. They praised manager Emma Hayes and her squad for their resilience in the face of adversity, injuries, and Hayes' absence.

"Our women's team has celebrated another astonishing season," the owners noted. "There are not enough positive things to say about Emma Hayes, her backroom staff, and squad, whose character and hunger to win is second to none."
