We Have Right To Invite Any Person — Osun Police

The Osun State Police Command has once again restated that it has the constitutional right to invite anyone being petitioned for questioning.

This the Command affirmed is to allow for a fair hearing in order to arrive at conclusive decisions.

The Commissioner of Police, Patrick Kehinde Longe, in a statement signed by the Command Spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola also added that this is so regardless of the person's political affiliation, status, gender and race.

"The Osun State Police Command being mindful of its constitutional roles; wish to make it known that the Police Command have the constitutional right to call anybody for questioning on any issues being reported to the police regardless of the person's political affiliation, status, gender, race etc."

Opalola explained that there was a case of defamation of character reported by a member of a political party against some people through a petition.

"However, during the course of the investigation, some people were invited from various political parties for interrogation.

"The police have the constitutional right to invite anyone being petitioned for questioning, a fair hearing to be able to make a conclusive decision(s).

"The Command, therefore, urge the public especially Politicians to always find out the truth of any matter before publication or going to social media."
