The governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufa'i, has revealed that the location of bandits terrorising the northwest is known to the government.
El-Rufa'i made the revelation on Thursday at the presidential Villa, Aso Rock, in Abuja.
He said there are maps indicating the whereabouts of the bandits but one has to be prepared before engaging them.
"Yes, we know where these bandits are, we have the maps.
"But somebody has to go in and kill them. I can’t do that. If that somebody doesn’t have enough men, doesn’t have enough fire power, doesn’t have technology, no one is going to commit suicide," stated El-Rufa'i.
He further revealed that it was the collaboration of the federal government and the Nigerian Governors Forum that yielded the purchase of the Super Tucano jets in use by the military.
He added that the move was to strengthen the country's defence system.
The governor also called for simultaneous land and air strikes to ensure that terrorists feel the wrath of the Nigerian troops while achieving effective results.
While noting that the simultaneous attacks might lead to the loss of innocent lives, he added that his government was willing to take the risk to ensure a safer Kaduna state.
