The Dutch player has reiterated his desire to leave Lyon and join Barcelona in January when he told Dutch Newspaper AD, "We'll be in January soon, We will have to wait and see how things go".
Lyon would be willing to sell Depay in January rather than lose him for free later in the summer of 2021 after the expiration of his contract.
The 26-year-old winger added on how close the transfer was, "Everything was done, really, some regulations stopped it from being completed".
Depay became Barcelona's main target after the move for Internazionale's striker, Lautaro Martinez, could not happen due to the Serie A club demands.
