We Will Protect Schools In Zamfara, Says Police

CP Kolo Yusuf

The Nigerian Police has assured adequate security in tertiary institutions of learning across Zamfara State.

The Commissioner of Police, Kolo Yusuf gave the assurance when he visited the Federal University Gusau, Federal College of Education (Technical) and Police Secondary School all in Gusau, the state capital.

This is contained in a statement by the Spokesman of the Command, SP Muhammad Shehu, on Thursday in Gusau.

According to him, CP Kolo said the measure was in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Usman Baba-Alkali, to provide adequate security to schools across the country.

“In compliance with the IGP’s directives, Mr Kolo Yusuf led Police Tactical Team to Federal University Gusau, Federal College of Education (Technical) and Police Secondary School Gusau for confidence building patrol.

“During the visit, the Police Commissioner met with the management of the schools, who took him round some of the strategic locations in their respective schools which were instantly assessed for security mapping, to safeguard lives and property.

“Kolo also made some paramount observations and advised the schools' management appropriately,” the statement said.

The CP urged the staff and students to be security conscious, and report suspicious movements to the police and other security agencies.

The statement further quoted the management of the schools as commending the IGP and the Police for their concern for the security of the schools.

“They promised to give all necessary support to the police and other security agencies in ensuring the safety of their schools," it concluded.
