What I Did As Offa TIC Chair - Iyalode

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Essa/Shawo/Igboidun Constituency in Kwara State, Bolaji Iyabo Ibiyeye-Adisa has listed a number of achievements she was able to pull during her time as Chairperson of the Transition Implementation Committee of Offa local government.

Ibiyeye-Adisa served as TIC Chairperson for six months under the administration of Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed in 2017.  

Speaking on an exclusive programme on Okin 105.7FM, Offa on Saturday, she stated that it was important to acknowledge former Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki, her leader.

"He made me the TIC Chairperson. He is a person who believes in capability, and that it is not peculiar to a gender.

"People who know how I become the TIC Chairperson know that it is Offa that supported, nominated and recommended me to Saraki.

"There was nothing to write home about when I assumed office at the local government.

"Tractors, tippers that were used as dump trucks, road graders, fire trucks, even legislative busses were grounded.

"We were like 'where should we start from?'

"We decided to resuscitate them first so they can be useful for our own use.

"This would aid development of Offa local government. 

"We also observed that there were plentiful bad roads in Offa, and it would cost a fortune if we are to rent road graders. repairing them will come at a lesser cost, it will also make us able to use the money to pay some other expenses of the government, including allowances.

"We also did an empowerment programme for women too.

"We spoke with Bank of Industry on loans for traders. 

"We thereafter put the tippers (dump trucks) into a good use.

"We made sure they were used to evacuate all the dumplings on the road daily.

"We used the road grader to grade almost 30 roads in Offa.

"We graded Isale Ago to St Claire's Girls school, Goodness School to Lamodi, Deeper Life Church to Ipee Road, Graceland Polytechnic, Offa LG Secretariat Road to Freedom Hotel, Emiola Junction to Dapson Hotel, Alheri Sawmill to Doctor Gafar Olagunju White House, Nur-l-Haq area, Itafa to John Mahaman Street, Quareeb Islamic Society of Nigeria's village when you are going to Kamanu, NSCDC Office at Osunte, Ejiwumi area, Igbawere to Igboidun. Those who live in those areas could attest to this. 

"If we were capable we wanted to tar Igbawere to Igboidun area because we were about to repair bulldozer and roller-compactor.

"They were about to sell it then, our TIC committee stopped the bid, however, by the time they were done repairing it our time as TIC has come to an end. 

"Even the day our TIC committee was dissolved, our road grader was still working at Abuja Poly area. We handed over everything to our successor. 

"Also, the Offa secretariat drug store was in total shambles. It looked abandoned.

"The ceiling has fallen and there was sparse of medicines therein. We held a meeting and refurbish the place.

"Some farmers came to meet us to seek for our help on how to plough their lands.

"Honourable Saheed Salam ('super for agric') mediated for them.

"We repaired the tractor, gave it to them with instructions that they will just paid for diesel fuel and the operator. We did it successfully. 

"Another one is that, there was a parcel of land that served as refuse dump at Olu-Isin Compound, Idi Ogun area.

"It has been there for more than 30 years. We noticed that there were people living around this place.

"When they first took me there for inspection I noticed that they were always burning the dumps and it smoke naturally went up the air and people breathed it.

"This was environmental hazard. That's how we packed all the dump everything.

"Some people came to lay a claim to the land.

"We told them they either pay us to pack the dump or they would let go of the land for us if we did it ourselves.

"They wrote a letter that they had let go of that land to Offa LG because it posses environmental problems to the residents.

"Even Chief Olusin intervened then. He's still available till date. We packed the refuse then."
