What You Need To Know About Greenfield University, Kaduna

Greenfield University is a private university in Kaduna City, Kaduna State, Nigeria, established in January 2019.

The plans to establish Greenfield University began in November 2013 after over 20 years of being in the elementary, basic and secondary school education business in Kaduna State.

The management led by Chief Simon Nwakacha made Greenfield University partially operational after the National Universities Commission (NUC) board, Federal Executive Council gave its approval for the school's establishment.

The Kaduna-based university commenced the 2018/19 session in May 2019.

The name Greenfield (Green Field)  was chosen to depict the university as a place that is conducive for the development and advancement of a wide range of knowledge, skills, and services which are desirable for human development.

Construction of Greenfield University began in January 2015 on the 110-hectare permanent site in Kasarami village of Chikun Local Government in Kaduna state at KM 33 along Kaduna-Abuja expressway.

Greenfield University was eventually issued its license by the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, and the Executive Secretary of the NUC, Professor Abubakar Rasheed along with other members of the NUC, on the 5th of February, 2019.

Following the issuance of the license, academic activities in the university commenced in June 2019 with its first academic session for the 2018/2019 academic year. The university has begun admitting its third set of students for the 2020/2021 academic session.

Founders of the tertiary institution said it was done in a quest for training the best to become the best in their fields.

"The vision of Greenfield University is to always be a highly sought-after university that excels at producing knowledgeable, talented, and enviable graduates who can positively contribute to societal development," the university's vision states.

Its mission as stated in the documents establishing it is to focus on the creation of an academically, physically, technically, socially and morally robust system which is to develop knowledgeable students who will be independent critical thinkers in different fields of study.

Greenfield also has the support of students to achieve their personal goals and ambitions for their future in order to reach self-fulfilment, self-respect, and self-confidence as its mission. In addition to this, it aims to produce graduates who are driven to be positive contributors to the advancement of society and who are who will lead the repositioning of Nigeria among the great nations of the world.

Greenfield University Facilities

Greenfield University currently operates two faculties; Science and Technology and Social and Management Sciences.

The proposed Engineering faculty will soon be approved to start admitting students. Each faculty has several departments which run a number of courses.

In total, the two faculties currently have nine departments and fifteen courses. Each faculty is headed by a dean and each department has a head.

The Faculty currently hosts four departments; Chemical Sciences, Computing and Mathematical Sciences, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences.
