What You Need To Know About MTN's 'eSIM', Compartible Phones

 

MTN recently launched its Evolution Subscriber Identity Modules (eSIM cards), which allows subscribers to use MTN line on their eSIM compatible phone without using sim cards. The new evolution in SIM cards will enable users to operate their phones by just registering rather than purchasing an MTN sim.

The MTN eSIM will be on for a year after the network provider obtained approval from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for the trial of eSIM. The eSIM is already built into some smartphones to give them more freedom and flexibility. 

MTN Nigeria is just the first telecommunication company to utilise the technology embedded in smartphones.

MTN Nigeria's Chief Operating Officer, Mazen Mroue, said, "Customers depend on us to provide high quality, reliable and easy-to-use connectivity solutions. With the introduction of the eSIM, we will offer customers a seamless and distinctive digital experience with new levels of flexibility, simplicity and convenience"

Which Smartphone Is Compatible With eSIM?

MTN Nigeria stated that "SIMs does everything a SIM card does and more." Adding in a separate statement that, "You simply activate the eSIM with your account profile and you are ready to enjoy all the services you normally would with a physical SIM."

Compatible Devices: Google Pixel 3, 3 XL, Pixel 4, 4 XL, Apple iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, iPhone XS, XS Max, iPhone XR, Samsung S20 Series.

Benefits of eSIM

(1). e-SIMs allow you have more than one phone number associated to your smart device. They particularly useful for people who want to manage personal and business lines.

(2). The possibility of losing or damaging your SIM is reduced because it is built into your device.

(3). You no longer have to deal with cutting SIM cards or finding adapters.

(4). It is extremely convenient for frequent travelers, making it easier to switch between network operators.

Note: To activate the eSIM, you will have to visit MTN stores near you.
