WhatsApp Introduces Video, Voice Calls To Desktop Apps

The facebook-owned messaging app, Whatsapp has officially introduced voice and video calls on Mac and PC desktops computers.

The company made the announcement on Thursday morning, offering end-to-end encrypted calls to other WhatsApp users on both computers and mobile devices.

The mobile apps for Android and iOS already offer these features and were introduced to small groups of desktops users at the end of last year.

The new calling and video features on the desktop promise the same calls and video privacy security meaning end-to-end encryption.

Whatsapp on desktops will only support one on one calls and not group calls hopefully, it will be extended to accommodate more callers at the same time.

To use the video call feature, download and set up a WhatsApp desktop app on either your Mac or PC, which requires that you already are a WhatsApp user on your mobile phone.

You will be required to scan a QR code to log in on the desktop app, after which users will be able to use the desktop version of WhatsApp with their usual account.
