WhatsApp Update Allows Users To Respond With Any Emoji, Not

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced in a Facebook post that with the latest version, WhatsApp's emoji replies function now allows users to use whatever emoji they choose.

This happens only a few months after WhatsApp gave the option to respond with a set of only six emojis.

WhatsApp will allow users to respond with any emoji, not just the predetermined six.

Up until now, that denoted one of six emojis: a thumbs up, a heart, a sobbing laughing face, a shocked face, a tearful face, or the praying hands.

They resembled those offered on Facebook in large part.

Users will now have access to the whole emoji keyboard, though.

Additionally, users can choose the skin tone for such emoji.

"We're rolling out the option to use any emoji as a reaction on WhatsApp," followed by a list of a few of his personal favourites.

Like previous emoji replies, you may activate the function by holding down the message you wish to respond to for a lengthy time.

By doing so, a menu including a new plus icon and the previous six emoji reactions appears.

A menu containing every emoji, including newer additions like the saluting and melting faces, is accessible by tapping the + icon.

This menu also offers various skin tone options. I predict that very soon, individuals will use their emoji replies in really inventive ways.

The enhanced emoji reaction feature brings WhatsApp in line with the features already present on Meta's Messenger service, which have been previously seen in the beta versions of the service, including on both iOS and Android. In the upcoming weeks, all WhatsApp users will have access to the extended emoji replies functionality, which is now rolling out.

This aligns the app with other competing chat programmes like Slack, which has long provided such emoji reactions.
