On Wednesday, Amaju Pinnick, the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced that the Super Eagles will play two-time African champions, Ivory Coast, and former continental kings, Tunisia in Austria later this year.
AllNews reports that it would be the first time the country's senior national team will file out against any opponent since dispatching Lesotho at the Setsoto Stadium in Maseru in November 2019.
Pinnick, via his verified Twitter handle stated that "due to the COVID-19 protocols presently in place and the proximity of the bulk of our team as well, Austria was seen as an ideal venue".
Côte d'Ivoire parades stars, such as Wilfried Zaha of Crystal Palace, Maxwel Cornet of Olympique Lyon, Nicolas Pépé of Arsenal, Franck Kessié of AC Milan and Serge Aurier of Tottenham Hotspur.
Tunisia - even though they do not boast of the big names - are the second-best team in Africa (27), going by the latest FIFA World Ranking.
Nigeria - four places behind them (on 31) - emerged victorious the last time the two giants clashed - at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) hosted by Egypt in 2019. Three-time AFCON winners, Nigeria, edged the Carthage Eagles in Cairo to scoop bronze in the Sinai Peninsula.
