When You Hear Gunshots, Don't Be Afraid — Army To Ibadan Residents

Nigerian Army, 2 Division Headquarters, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ojoo, Ibadan, has notified residents in the area of its locality not to be afraid when they hear gunshots starting from Monday, August 1, 2022.

This was made known in a statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Charles Ekeocha, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations.

According to the statement, the 2022 Annual Range Classification Exercise will be held at the Major General Akintayo Shooting Range on Monday, in accordance with the Nigerian Army Forecast of Events 2022.

Farmers were also advised to as a matter of safety avoid the range area from Monday, August 1.

While encouraging residents to go about their regular activities without fear, the statement added that the annual range classification exercise is scheduled for August 1 to 5, 2022.

"The exercise aims to improve already taught practical gun handling courses, evaluate marksmanship abilities as well as test and review troop weapon handling ability.

“The residents of the Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment in Ibadan are therefore warned not to flee if they hear gunfire during that time.

“Farmers in the area should stay away from the range area throughout the shooting practice," the statement partly reads.
