Director-General, World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has hit out at French scientists for suggesting to use Africa as a testing site for a coronavirus vaccine.
Ghebreyesus described the suggestion as "racist" and a vestige of the “colonial mentality.”

He said, “Africa cannot and will not be a testing ground for any vaccine,” at a press conference, adding “we will follow all the rules to test any vaccine or therapeutics all over the world… whether it is in Europe, Africa or wherever.”
Video had surfaced online of two French scientists saying they have discovered a vaccine for coronavirus and would like to test it on Africans.
The suggestion, however, generated a lot of backlash with top African personalities condemning such suggestion.
