Why angry mob beats middle aged man to death in Osun

A yet-to-be-identified middle aged man has been beaten to death by an angry mob in Osogbo, Osun State capital for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.

The suspect, whose identity has not been revealed was caught red handed riding away a Bajaj motorcycle at a filling station at Oke-Baale Area on Monday night.

A witness, who pleaded anonymity told newsmen that the owner of the bike, along side other motorists and motorcyclists had besieged a filling station around half past seven in the evening to purchase fuel.

He said the suspect allegedly took advantage of the rush due to the scarcity of petrol to commit the crime but fortunately, the owner of the motorcyclist saw him and raised alarm.

The eye witness added that the suspect who was given a hot chase by some motorcyclists eventually abandoned the motorcycle and ran into a bridge close to the petrol station where he was attacked and beaten to a pulp by the angry crowd.

The suspect was said to have passed away by the time some policemen arrived the scene.
