UK-based Ghanaian singer Fuse ODG has shared a troubling video on his social media platform, shedding light on an encounter with the UK police that he believes was a case of racial profiling.
In the video, which he initially hesitated to share due to exhaustion and a sense of embarrassment, Fuse ODG can be seen inside a car as a police officer attempts to forcibly remove him from the vehicle and place handcuffs on him.
According to Fuse ODG’s account of the incident, which occurred on February 28, 2023, in Brixton, he was unexpectedly dragged out of his car without any prior warning or explanation.
According to the female police officer at the scene, she could smell the substance through the rolled windows.
The officers then wanted to search his Range Rover since they claimed they could smell the substance from the car to which Fuse ODG requested a search warrant before giving them the go-ahead.
This resulted in an altercation and the arrest of the 'Azonto' crooner.
However, he was released and given a ticket even though no substance was found in his car.
Subsequently, he endured excruciating pain as the handcuffs were tightly clamped onto his wrists, necessitating a six-hour visit to the Accident & Emergency department.
Fuse ODG mentioned that he has taken the step of filing a formal complaint with the Metropolitan Police and expressed his gratitude to Tunde Okewale of Urban Lawyers for supporting him throughout this process.
