Insider reports that the Mexican and American film actress starred alongside Antonio Banderas in Desperado, playing a woman named Carolina who becomes the character's love interest.
In a recent podcast, Hayek talked about how emotional she became while filming a sex scene with Antonio Banderas. She recalled that when she took the role, there was no sex scene in the movie script. She said the sex scene was added by the studio when they saw the chemistry between her and Banderas.
Her words, "It was demanded by the studio when they saw the chemistry. I had a really, really hard time with that."
Hayek agreed to film the scene which was shot on a closed set, with her, Banderas, director Robert Rodriguez, and his wife at the time, Elizabeth Avellan.
Speaking further on the experience, Hayek dished that she had never done anything like that before.
"When we were going to start shooting, I started to sob", she recalled. "One of the things I was afraid of was Antonio because he was an absolute gentleman and super nice and we're still very close friends but he was very free. So it scared me that for him it was like nothing."
She stated that she was so embarrassed that she was crying on set that Banderas said he felt terrible, adding that he and the others present were "amazing" and that the director never put pressure on her.
"I would not let go of the towel. They would try to make me laugh and things and take it off for two seconds but I'd start crying again."
Hayek disclosed that she kept thinking of her father and brother while filming the scene, mentioning that she wanted her father to be nothing but proud of her.
Her family members eventually watched the film with her and she led them out of the movie theatre during the sex scene and they all returned after its conclusion.
Desperado stars Banderas as El Mariachi, a man looking for revenge after the killing of his lover at the hands of a drug lord.
