The founder of the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and Biafra Independence Movement (BIM), Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, has revealed why he does not subscribe to a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction.
Uwazuruike bared his thoughts while playing host to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State in Owerri, Imo State on Saturday, adding that the idea of the Igbo Presidency should be discarded.
According to the MASSOB leader, the race for who emerges as Nigeria's next president should be thrown open.
He urged citizens to shun the idea of zoning, saying that it has no place in the Nigerian constitution. He also stated that it leads to sectionalism in some regions of the country.
"I don’t believe in the idea of zoning system or Igbo president because zoning means sectionalism.
"If we want to talk about Nigeria, we must throw the presidential contest open but if you throw it open, it must be for the youths, not elders, because the elders have failed us", Uwazuruike said.
