Mavin Records star Johnny Drille has opened up on why he created his latest Don Jazzy-produced music ‘How Are You (My Friend)’.
In an interview with media personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Johnny Drille said he wrote the song together with Don Jazzy.
Johnny Drille revealed that it all started when the Mavin Records boss lost his mother after she battled cancer for an undisclosed period of time.
According to him, Don Jazzy realised that he has a lot of friends he hasn't been in touch with in a long time.
It was at that point they decided to make songs about friendships to help people reconnect with their old relationships because there are few songs celebrating friendships.
“I think generally, just the times we are in,” he said.
“I guess there is so much going on with our politics, security.
"Other things are going on, even in our personal lives.
“And it's very easy to forget those things that matter which are the relationships in our lives, the friendships in our lives, family.
“I think for me, especially for Jazzy — we wrote the song together; he started it — he lost his mum.
“It was at that point he realised he has so many friends he hasn't spoken to in so long. And people were reaching out.
“It made us realize that there are songs celebrating love, fathers, mothers and all that stuff but nobody gets to hear a lot of songs about friendships.
“We figured this would be a way to help people reconnect with their old relationships and friends.”
