Why Nollywood Actors Should Be Punished On Set — Niyi Akin

Niyi Akinmolayan is all for punishing erring Nollywood stars who take advantage of lax filming protocols during movie productions as he recently disclosed.

The Prophetess director says that Nigerian producers need to be more strict with actors because the crews on set will eventually be strict with overtime costs.

Usually, when movie shoots go beyond the scheduled time, the budget becomes overstretched as the production incurs more costs, something Akinmolayan is obviously averse to.

Speaking further, he stated that actors couldn't be punished for late coming on movie sets, then those involved should be ready to pay the crew for overtime.

Also broaching the issue of lunchbreaks, the filmmaker urged his colleagues to be serious with the work they do, pledging to revisit the matter at a later time. He added that they were all guilty of the laxity.

Akinmolayan said, "Nigerian producers will need to be stricter with actors... because eventually, crew will be strict on overtime costs. If you can't punish actors for coming late, then be ready to pay crew overtime.

"There's also a thing with lunch breaks. We have to get serious about this work sha. I will face this matter properly some other time. We are all guilty of it and should do better for crew!!"

Commenting on the post, actress Kemi Lala Akindoju said that sometimes actors come to movie sets early but encounter some delays. She added that the delays were mostly not deliberate but as a result of some factors.

Akindoju wrote, "But sometimes the actors come early and crew has some delays. Art department or camera department. Most times not deliberately from the crew but just some set backs either because they are just seeing the location or some Nigerian factors."
