Why We're Fanatical About Biafra - IPOB's Nnamdi Kanu

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)

Nigerian political activist, Nnamdi Kanu, has said that Biafra, to agitators, "is a religion".

Kanu stated this in a Special Broadcast on Radio Biafra on Sunday. The broadcast was monitored by this reporter.

The 53-year-old leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) also expressed his utmost confidence that the restoration of Biafra will be achieved.

"Biafra to us is a religion," Kanu said.

"It is a way of reasoning, and it is a way of life.

"We believe that the restoration of Biafra is not in the gift of man to give.

"No single man can ever give you Biafra. It is impossible.

"Biafra is the gift of The Most-High to give.

"How we prepare and position ourselves on earth, both physically and spiritually will determine if God will love us enough to give us this His Kingdom on the face of this very earth.

"That was why in his infinite mercy, Eastern Security Network was established - to secure our land.

"And anybody foolish and stupid enough to seek confrontation - as I have said previously - before you come to look for us, before you enter into our forests to perhaps die there, look at Somalia."

IPOB's main aim is to restore an independent state of Biafra in the former Eastern Region of Nigeria through an independence referendum.

IPOB and other secessionist movements in Nigeria have criticised the federal government of Nigeria for its poor investment, inequitable resource distribution, ethnic marginalization, and heavy military presence in the Biafran region.
