Wike Speaks On Reported Plans To Dump PDP For APC

The immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has stated that he has no plans to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wike made the disclosure on Friday after meeting President Bola Tinubu, alongside his Oyo State counterpart, Seyi Makinde and a former Governor of Delta State, James Ibori.

According to Wike, the purpose of his visit to the President was to offer his support as that was what was required of him.

Responding to a question about switching to the APC from PDP, he responded: “No. No plans. Nothing like that in the offing.

“We are Nigerians and we have come to give the president support.

“That is what is required. There is no big deal about that.”

Wike's latest comments come after a member of the Peoples Democratic Party’s National Executive Committee, Timothy Osadolor, said the party has ignored the former as he is no longer himself.

Speaking in a phone conversation with Punch, Osadolor stated that Wike's recent activities whereby he appeared to show solidarity with the APC expose him as a man craving the spotlight regardless of the cost to his reputation.
