Will 'Prophetess' Surpass 'Elevator Baby'?

Actress Toyin Abraham Aimakhu has featured in a new movie titled 'Prophetess' and it will start showing at the cinemas from the 26th of March, 2021.

Directed by Niyi Akinmolayan, the star actress played the lead role in the upcoming comedy alongside Lateef Adedimeji, Muyiwa Ademola, Tina Mba, Ronke Oshodi-Oke, Deyemi Okanlawon, Uzor Arukwe, Kehinde Bankole, Kunle Remi and Big Brother Naija season four housemate, Seyi Awolowo.

The first teaser for the movie debuted on Wednesday, via Abraham's Instagram account.

The 'Prophetess' is expected to surpass the success of her 2020 movie, 'Fate of Alakada', an action-comedy written by Moshood Yakubu Olawale and Ozioma Ogbaji and directed by Kayode Kasum. 

The actress said that she has never done a movie like the "prophetess" as she described the director as a very zealous person who wants the best and has succeeded in bringing out the best in all the cast. She is very optimistic that this new movie would be a hit.

Synopsis:

‘Prophetess’ produced by Victoria Akujobi, Mimi Bartels and Matilda Sola, follows the story of Ajoke Olooto (Toyin Abraham), a local prophetess who makes a deceptive prediction about a football match that sets off a chain of events beyond her control.

Akinmolayan disclosed that his latest movie “The Prophetess” came to him while “Elevatorbaby” movie screening was ongoing in Abeokuta in 2020.

“During the Elevatorbaby screening at Abeokuta last year…I saw hundreds of people literally pushing on each other just to see @toyin_abraham some people travelled from Osogbo and Akure with their families. All they wanted was to touch her and take photos and tell her how much they love her," he said.

He disclosed that he has never seen fans hang around celebrities and that gave birth to the idea which he whispered into her ears and she responded with a smile urging him to bring it on.

" I had never seen anything like that in all my time hanging around celebs but it gave me an epiphany!! This is a woman of the people!! So I whispered to Toyin’s ears…” I have found a new film for you…and it’s going to be big and you will be a prophetess” she smiled and said bring it on," he added.
