Witch Doctor Sentenced To 40 Years For Murder

Witch Doctor Sentenced To 40 Years In Prison Over Murder Of His Best Friend.

High Court in Rukungiri District, Uganda has sentenced a witch doctor to 40 years in prison for murdering and sacrificing his closest friend identified as Suleiman Mutabazi.

Suleiman Mugisha called his friend Mutabazi, a butcher at the Bwambara Trading Center, on April 20, 2022, asking him to urgently locate him at his home in Rweshama, according to testimony given in court before Justice Tom Kyemutei.

Since that time, Mutabazi has vanished. His body was discovered wrapped in sacks, with some of his body parts missing, near Lake Edward in the fishing village of Rweshama.

Mugisha was convicted on his plea of guilty.

The easiest option was a friend, he admitted in front of the court, and his small gods had requested the body parts of either his son or his best friend.

Before being given a sentence, Mutabazi, 44, pleaded with the court for leniency, stating that his wife and one of the children were already serving time for the same offence and that the rest of the family was left alone at home.

“I have considered the fact that you are a first offender and you did not waste the court’s time.

"However, the offence you did attracts a maximum death sentence but you will spend only 40 years in prison to deter other intending criminals from doing the same,” Justice Kyemutei ruled.

His co-accused, Shallon Kesande (wife) and their 13-year-old son are on remand in Kabale Prison in Kabale District.
