The hit song 'Essence' is nominated for the Top R&B Finalist Category alongside Doja Cat and The Weeknd's 'You Right', Silk Sonic's 'Leave The Door Open', Giveon's 'Heartbreak Anniversary', Justin Bieber, Daniel Caesar and Giveon's 'Peaches'.
For the first time since 2019, the Billboard Music Awards will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

This feat places Wizkid as the first Nigerian to have his own song nominated for the prestigious award though he had been nominated earlier in 2017 as a result of his 'One Dance' collaboration with Drake.
