Woman Attempts To Kidnap Twin At Kano Hospital

A woman yet to be identified on Sunday attempted to steal a newborn twin from his mother at Abdullahi Wase Hospital in Kano.

The father of the twin and one of Kano's popular journalists, Muhammad Adam Tudun Muri Murtala told AllNews Nigeria that the woman confidently matched into the patient's room to take the baby from its mother.

He said the hospital's officials had earlier asked that all those taking care of the patients should leave the ward, as the rooms would be cleaned and sterilized.

"Everyone left then the woman entered my wife's (Aisha Abubakar) room and asked to take one of the twins outside to be cleaned as well.

"One of the patients, Aisha shared a room room signalled to her not to give the child, so she refused.

"The woman then started dragging the baby from its mother but she refused to let go."

Muhammad Auwal Tudun Murtala added that a commotion started, which made the thief flee.

He however expressed shock that the woman successfully passed the security at the ward and the main security to leave the hospital after the incident.

The terrified father said his wife had to ensure so much, given that her Cesarean section stitches are new.

He was glad she could endure holding one of the twins with one hand, and keeping the other twin from the thief with the other hand.

The twins, a boy and a girl were birthed on Friday.

Muhammad Auwal Tudun Murtala called on the hospital's security to produce the woman as soon as possible, as he plans to take up the matter to the police.
