Workers' Day (or Labour Day in some countries) is a public holiday.
It is a day off for the general population, and schools and most businesses are closed.
Since 1981, 1 May is a public holiday in Nigeria.
On the day, people gather while, traditionally, the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and other politicians address workers.
This year's Workers' Day celebration is an unusual one amidst the battle against the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
