Workers' Day: N-Power Sends Message Of 'Appreciation' On May

To mark the 2020 Workers' Day, the Job Creation and Empowerment Initiative of the Social Investment Programme of the Nigerian Government has sent a message of gratitude to "the incredible men and women who toil day and night to make Nigeria a better place".

Allnews reports that the message of appreciation was disseminated via the official Twitter handle of the famed N-Power scheme on Friday.

N-Power volunteers - numbering nothing less than 500, 000 - are split into N-Teach, N-Agro, N-Health, N-Tax, et al.

About International Workers' Day

Workers' Day (or Labour Day in some countries) is a public holiday.

It is a day off for the general population, and schools and most businesses are closed.

Since 1981, 1 May is a public holiday in Nigeria.

On the day, people gather while, traditionally, the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and other politicians address workers.

This year's Workers' Day celebration is an unusual one amidst the battle against the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
