X backs lawsuit against Block over free speech dispute

Chloe Happe, a former employee of Block, has filed a lawsuit against her ex-employer, with financial backing from X.

Block was developed by Jack Dorsey, who also founded the website that was previously known as Twitter.

Happe alleges wrongful termination, citing two posts made on her "pseudonymous, satirical account" on X.

One post referenced refugees from Gaza, the other contained ableist language. Happe claims these posts were made during personal time, not work hours, and didn't mention Block.

Despite deleting one post voluntarily, Block obtained copies and terminated her without severance. Happe argues Block violated its policies.

Elon Musk, CEO of X, publicly supported Happe's lawsuit on Twitter.

He previously funded lawsuits in the name of free speech and Happe seeks reinstatement and damages for lost pay.
