Spanish tactician, Xavi Hernandez, has conceded that Barcelona are underdogs against Real Madrid in the semifinal of the Copa del Rey, irrespective of Catalonia's current situation and injuries.

Barca got the better of the Spanish Champions in Saudi Arabia in the Super cup final but against Los Blancos in the semifinal first leg, Xavi admits his team's weakness.

Xavi's comments came ahead of the clash at the Santiago Bernabeu on Thursday.

When asked if Los Blancos were the favourites to reach the final, Xavi's response was unequivocal.

He pointed out that Madrid were the reigning Champions League and La Liga champions, and that the Spanish Super Cup had nothing to do with it.

Despite Barça's absences of Lewandowski, Pedri, and Dembele, Xavi said that Madrid remained the favourites to reach the final.

"We are a team in the process of construction," Xavi said. "I think Madrid are our favourite.

"I have to be honest, I don't mind saying it."

However, Xavi also added that his team was motivated to compete and would give their all in the match.

Despite the absences of key players, Xavi remains optimistic about his team's chances.

"We are on the verge of a final and that motivates us. We will give us all and we will compete toe-to-toe."

The second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final between Barcelona and Real Madrid is set to take place later in March at Spotify Camp Nou.

Real Madrid will look to secure their place in the final, while Barcelona will aim to overturn the deficit and advance to the final.
