YABATECH Gets New Deputy Rector

The position of Deputy Rector (Academics) at Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) has been occupied by Dr Ismaila Badmus of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

According to a statement by Joe Ejiofor, the Deputy Registrar of YABATECH, who doubles as its Head of Public Relations, Badmus emerged as the new Deputy Rector after he polled 75 votes to defeat  Dr Pauline Ehirheme of the Department of Office Technology and Management, who polled 13 votes during an emergency meeting of the college’s academic board.

Ejiofor stated that the election was necessary to fill the position which had been vacant since the tenure of the former Deputy Rector, Dr Titilayo Ukabam ended in September 2022.

“As part of efforts to ensure proper and smooth administration of the college, a free and fair election has been held, and Badmus has emerged the new Deputy Rector (Academics),” he said.

The statement noted that Badmus who is an indigene of Ibadan joined the service of YABATECH as a Lecturer 2 in 1997 after which he rose to the position of Chief Lecturer in 2013. 

According to Ejiofor, the new Deputy Rector holds a B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering, M.Sc in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD, also in Mechanical Engineering.

He is also registered with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria and has published a number of scholarly papers in both local and international journals
