Yabatech Students Give Unusual Social Media Education

The Mass Communication Department final year students of Yaba College of Technology have organised a photo exhibition programme to educate the public on social media deception.

The students, with 72 pieces of photo art, explained the ruse and make-believe constantly on display on social media, creatively communicating how the media has enhanced fake living.

Represented by the Sub-dean of the Department of Mass communication, Sule Olatunji, the Rector of the institution, Engr. Femi Omokungbe, lauded the students for their style of educating Nigerians on the deception of social media, stating that it has been a distraction to many youths.

“This has been the best photo exhibition so far in the history of student exhibition at Yabatech, and I really commend the aura of teamwork emitting from the students, to see that this exhibition is a success.

"It is good to see that they are able to use pictures to pass strong and meaningful messages to our society.

"It is impressive how they dissuade youths from patronising the hoaxes that social media flaunts.” Omokungbe expressed.

The rector encouraged other departments to do likewise and build the potential of students of the institution.
