Yahaya Attends Ex-Speaker Nono's Funeral Prayer In Gombe

The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has attended the funeral prayer for the former Speaker of the state's House of Assembly, Nasiru Abubakar Nono.

Among the thousands of sympathisers who attended the funeral prayer was the Emir of Gombe, HRH Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, former governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo and other top government officials.

Nono died on Thursday in an accident along Keffi-Abuja road. 

The funeral took place on Friday at the Bubayero Central Mosque, Emir's Palace Gombe.

The governor earlier in his condolence message expressed sadness over the death of the former Speaker.

He described the death as a monumental loss to his family, Gombe State and Nigeria. 

In a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, spokesperson to the governor, Yahaya said late Nono was a humble and down-to-earth politician committed to the well-being of his constituents and the people of the state in general. 

"The Governor recalled that as the Speaker of the State Assembly, Hon. Nono exuded tact, dexterity and statesmanship while presiding over the state legislature and earned the respect and loyalty of his colleagues," added Misilli.

The governor, on behalf of the government and people of Gombe State, conveyed his deepest condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, his political associates and the people of Yamaltu Deba local government area over the great loss, praying Almighty Allah to grant the deceased Aljannat Firdaus.
