Yahaya Commiserates With Dukku Emirate Over Bunu's Demise

The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has commiserated with the Emir Of Dukku, Alhaji Haruna Abdulkadir Rashid over the demise of Bunun Dukku, Alhaji Usman Rashid.

The governor also extended his condolences to the entire people of the Dukku Emirate over the huge loss. 

The late Bunu died aged 90 and has been buried according to Islamic rites. 

The governor led high-level government officials, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state and other associates to attend the funeral prayer at the Central Mosque, Emir's Palace in Dukku.  

While commiserating with the royal family, the governor described the late Bunu as "An illustrious son, upright father, community leader and respected elder statesman who lived an exemplary life worthy of emulation".

As contained in a statement signed by the spokesperson to the governor, Ismaila Uba Misilli, on Monday, the governor said, "The death of the traditional title holder and senior emirate council member is a great loss, not only to Dukku emirate but the state and the nation in general."

The statement read: "The Governor, on behalf of the government and people of Gombe State, extended his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, urging them to keep alive the wonderful legacies of dignity and honour he left behind."

He also prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased's shortcomings and reward his good deeds with Aljannatul Firdaus. 

The governor was accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, the Director General of APC Campaign Council, Barrister Zubairu Muhammad Umar, Commissioners, party chieftains: Dr Jamilu Isiyaka Gwamna, Dr Bala Bello, Alh. Abubakar Sherif among others.
