Yahaya To Empower 'Achaba' Riders With 15,000 Motorcycles

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has expressed readiness to purchase 15,000 motorcycles to support motorcycle riders in the state popularly known as 'achaba'.

Yahaya pledged to distribute the motorcycles to the commercial Motorcycle Riders Association (Achaba).

The governor noted that the gesture was in addition to a 10 million naira grant earlier approved for the association as part of his administration's intervention under the Gombe State COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (GO-CARES).

Yahaya made this known on Sunday when he received the members of the Association of Commercial Motorcycle Riders and Owners, Gombe State Chapter at the APC square on solidarity visit. 

The Governor expressed delight at the support of the Motorcycle Riders to his administration, assuring of his government's support towards sustaining the business in Gombe State.

Governor Inuwa said he directed the Commissioner of Finance, Hon. Muhammad Gambo Magaji to take necessary action towards speedy procurement of the motorcycles for onward distribution to the members of the association.

As contained in a statement by his spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli, Yahaya said: "Our administration is always committed towards human capital development, which is why we attach much priority to especially youth and women empowerment."

Earlier in his address, the commissioner of Youths and Sports Development, Abubakar Aminu Musa described Governor Yahaya as an exemplary leader worthy of emulation. 

Responding on behalf of the members of the Association, the state chairman, Alhaji Kabir Jaafaru, thanked the Governor for keeping to his words to support their activities.
