YIAGA Africa Report: Osun APC Knocks PDP

The Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) has faulted the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over its bickering on non-issues in order to fraudulently win the sympathy of the people and the judiciary.

The party in a statement issued by Kola Olabisi, the Media Adviser to the state chairman of the party in Osogbo on Thursday noted that the unguided noise over mundane issues from the caretaker chairman of the PDP, Adekunle Adekunle is unguided.

A civil society organisation which is a major stakeholder in the nation's electoral process, the Youth Initiative for Advocacy Group and Advancement (YIAGA) had pointed out some anomalies in the July 16, 2022, Osun State governorship election.

The Executive Director of YIAGA, Samson Itodo, had revealed that some issues in the Osun election affected the processing of results on the ERAD platform which, he noted, was targeted at providing credible information.

According to Itodo, in the Osun election, 87 results were not processed on the ERAD due to some issues.

The statement condemned the accusation of the Osun PDP that the APC is engaging in a media trial through the YIAGA report.

"This group of political vampires under the aegis of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are not comfortable because it has exposed the skeletons in its cupboard.

"Have you ever heard of anyone being comfortable after he has swallowed a pestle?

"The Osun PDP has murdered sleep and a series of inconveniences have become their portion.

"Lies and violence are synonymous with the PDP. Where is the media trial that the absolutely confused PDP is accusing the Osun APC of? 

"The APC is a product of the rules of law of which no amount of provocation from any political irritant would make it to resort to self-help.

 "It will profit the Osun State PDP better if its handlers can learn how not to dissipate their energy on frivolous daily composition writings in order to whip up sentiments to shield their pyrrhic victory in the July 16, 2022, governorship election.

"It is not for fun that the Osun PDP cannot celebrate the questionable victory as it amounts to futile rejoicing over the cornering of a proverbial dead sparrow.

 "The good people of Osun State should ignore the ever cantankerous and violence-loving opposition party as Governor Gboyega Oyetola is busy serving them the qualitative dividends of democracy across the nooks and crannies of the state. 

"The constant distractive and deafening cacophonic noise of the PDP should be ignored as it won't be the first and the last party to be declared the winner of the voting segment of an election process.

"It is the inalienable right of the APC and Governor Oyetola to seek justice in the court of law.

 "The Osun PDP should give peace a chance", the statement counselled.
