Yobe: Army Hands Over Cannabis Worth ₦4.9 Million To NDLEA

The Army handed over the wraps of cannabis to NDLEA on Monday in Damaturu, Yobe State.

The Headquarters Sector 2, North-East Joint Task Force, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Damaturu on Monday handed 98 parcels of cannabis sativa worth ₦4.9 million to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The Sector Commander, Major General Koko Isoni stated this while handing over the seized substances in Damaturu.

He said they were seized on October 7, 2022, by troops of the 159 Battalion in Geidam Local Government Area of the state.

“It was abandoned by the courier including the vehicle conveying the consignment when he saw the patrol team."

In his remarks, the State Commandant of the Agency, Aliyu Yahaya said the Army did a good job, adding that each parcel of Cannabis costs N50,000.

Yahaya who was represented by the Deputy State Commandant, Ogar Peter, appreciated the synergy between the security agencies in the state.

“We are pleased to receive this exhibit.

"The gesture demonstrates the synergy that exists between the security agencies in the state,” he said, adding that the Nigerian Army has been committed to curb drug peddling in the state.
