The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, has approved an increase in the monthly gratuity payment for the state's retirees.
Following the approval, the payment which stood at N100 million has been reviewed to stand at N200 million.
The governor's approval was conveyed in a statement on Thursday by Alhaji Mohammed Abacha, the State's Commissioner of Finance.
According to Abacha, the governor's approval was to ensure an increase in the payment of gratuity to the beneficiaries every month.
Mamman Mohammed, the governor's spokesperson, made this available in a statement on Thursday.
"The review would now provide room for a larger coverage of retired public officers and the next of kin of deceased workers to receive their retirement benefits.
"This demonstrates the commitment of the Yobe state government to ensure that retirees are paid their benefits in good time after retirement .
"The next of kin of the deceased civil servants would also be paid the entitlements of their deceased relations to support the beneficiaries," Mohammed stated.
