The governor of Yobe state, Mai Mala Buni has secured land for the construction of 5000 houses.
The 5000 units of two-bedroom flats will be shared among seven local government areas of the state.
This was disclosed to newsmen in Damaturu by the Director of Administration Azuba Nigeria Limited, Alhaji Usman Maina Kaina.
He disclosed that the project was in collaboration with World Nations Development Programme (WNDP) and Africa Nations Development Programme (ANDP).
He state that, “Governor Mai Mala Buni has assured us that we will be given land to build these houses despite the houses being splitted into seven local government areas of the state."
The local government areas to benefit from the intervention include: Gujba (500), Damaturu (1000), Gaidam (500), Bade (750), Nguru (750), Fune (500) and Potiskum (1000).
“Yobe State government under the leadership of His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni through the office of the Director- General Yobe State Geographic Information System (YOGIS) secured this land and handed it over to us and we were given approval for the side plan a few weeks ago", he further stated.
Kaina stated that the project will commence at Damaturu where 70 hectares of land was secured.
He added that the project comprises of the construction of Hospital, Mosque, Modern market, Road network and the 1000 units of two bedrooms flats.
He further stated that work will commence in the next three weeks on the site.
