Yobe SEMA provides relief items to victims of communal clash

The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has provided relief items to victims of a communal clash in Fika Local Government Area of the state.

The provision of the relief items was approved by the State Governor, Mai Mala Buni following receipt of report of the incident between Daya and Jauro Dajji communities.

The support also comes after the intervention of community stakeholders and the Yobe State House of Assembly which led to return of peace.

The Yobe SEMA team led by its Executive Secretary, (Dr) Mohammed Goje on Sunday sympathized with the victims, stating that the items were sent by Governor Buni.

He further emphasized the significance of unity and peaceful coexistence among the community members and urged them to embrace peace.

Goje said: "Yobe State Government will continue exploring opportunities to ensure they have resettled back and better in line with Governor Buni's Post disaster reintegration and recovery plan."

He equally appreciated the member representing Fika at the State Assembly, Ishaku Daya and the Assembly for jointly ensuring that the victims were well attended to.

The items distributed to the two communities of Daya and Jauro Dajji include: rice, maize, beans, vegetable oil, matresses, blankets, mosquito nets, wrappers, brocade and salt.

Leaders from both communities appreciated Governor Buni for the swift response and emphasized that "peace is here to stay, and the support will play a vital role in assisting the affected families to recover and rebuild their lives."
