You Can Name A Cockroach After Your Ex For Valentine

You Can Name A Cockroach After Your Ex For Valentine

Breakup is cruel and there is no one-size-fits-all way to move on. However, you can make yourself feel better by naming a cockroach after your ex and feeding it to the birds.

Yes, the Hemsley Conservation Centre in Kent, UK is helping people to celebrate Valentine’s Day with their cheeky fundraising scheme.

As part of the zoo’s annual “name a cockroach after your ex” event, they are once again “offering the chance to name a cockroach in honour of you or your friend’s worthless ex-‘someone’ on this special holiday of love for just £1.50.”

The cockroaches don’t just have to be named your ex, you could even choose to name your least favourite politician or someone who made 2021 difficult for you.

The fun part is that after making your donation to name a roach, you’ll receive a downloadable certificate and the chance to see the name revealed on a special roach board that gets unveiled on Valentine's day.

Other zoos are in on this.

At the Houston Museum of Natural Science, USA, you can buy an "endless love" name-a-roach pin for $10. It comes with a digital certificate and, of course, the naming of a roach.

"There are two things we're sure will last forever; True Love and Roaches," the site reads.

But the San Antonio Zoo's Cry Me a Cockroach fundraiser is geared toward naming after the ones who "really [made] 2021 difficult," such as an "ex-partner, boss, or bestie" for just $5.

The Zoo will name a cockroach after your former significant other and feed it to a bird, reptile or mammal.

And if your ex-sweetheart was an especially snaky one, pay $20 more to have zookeepers feed a frozen rat to a reptile instead.
