A new forum has been launched in the Northern District of Nasarawa State to enhance the inclusion of women in politics and governance.
The forum, Nasarawa North Ladies Support Organization (NNLSO) was founded by Gloria Suleiman with priority to produce at least a woman as a Member of the National Assembly in the 2023 general elections.
According to Suleiman, this is to chart a new course forward for women through dialogue on political issues and opinions as it affects the interest of the Senatorial district.
“NNLSO prioritizes women's inclusion in politics and socio-economic activities, exposing women to a society where they are being accepted to make political choices that will enhance the livelihood of their communities.
“To provide targeted support for gender equality in early party activities and development.
“To support any woman we find competent to run for any political position irrespective of their political parties.
“To enhance women’s equal participation and learning in political and public life which are essential to building sustaining, strong and vibrant democracies,” she said.
Founded barely a few months ago, NNLSO now has membership cut across the Thirty-Five (35) electoral wards that makes up the Senatorial district.
