Yuletide: Police Bans Open Street Carnivals In Osun

All youth and street carnivals have been banned by the Osun State Police Command

The Osun State Police Command made this known on Tuesday In a press release signed by Yemisi Opalola, the Osun Police Command spokesperson.

The Command also disclosed that it is acting upon intelligence made available to it which suggests that miscreants under the guise of street carnival planned to cause mayhem.

"Intelligence availed the Command suggests that miscreants under the guise of street carnival plan to carry out mayhem, as such the Command is using this forum to inform the general public that streets carnival will not be tolerated in whatever form or guise. 

"Therefore, all organizers of carnivals are enjoined to hire halls or use gated compounds to carry out/celebrate their festival.

"Parents/guardians are equally warned to advise their children/wards to desist from any act that could jeopardize the peace of this season."

The release also advised the residents of the state to go about their legitimate business and celebrate peacefully.

It also warned that anyone caught or found wanting will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
