Zabarmari Massacre: Zulum Tells Buhari To Hire Mercenaries T

Following the killing of 43 rice farmers by men of the Boko Haram sect on Saturday, the governor of Borno State Babagana Zulum has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to recruit mercenaries to help push out Boko Haram from Sambisa forest.

Zulum who gave this suggestion on Monday while the Federal government delegates visited the state also asked President Buhari to immediately engage the service of neighbouring countries like Cameroon, Chad and Niger republic to help clear the remnant of Boko Haram hiding at the shore of Lake Chad.

The Borno Governor also suggested that the federal government immediately recruit youths into military and paramilitary services.

“One of our recommendations as possible solutions to end the insurgency is the immediate recruitment of our youths into military and paramilitary services to complement the efforts of the Nigerian forces,” he said.

“Our second recommendation is to engage the services of our immediate neighbours, especially the government of Chad, Cameroon and Niger Republic, in clearing the remnants of Boko Haram hiding in the shores of the Lake Chad.

“Our third recommendation is for him to engage the services of the mercenaries to clear the entire Sambisa forest.

“Our fourth recommendation is for him to provide the police and the military, with armed resistant armoured personnel carriers and other related equipment.

“We are also soliciting the support of the federal government to support the Borno state repatriation of out displaced persons currently residing in Cameroon and Niger Republic.”

Further pointing out that the federal ministry of works had not constructed a road in Borno state and most states in the Northeast in the past 25 years, Zulum said that insurgency in the state will reduce by 60 per cent if roads in the region are fixed.

Recall that AllNews had earlier today reported that the Senate President Ahmad Lawan led a delegate of the Federal government to Borno over the massacre that happened on Saturday at Zabarmari community in Jere local government.
