Zamfara: Lawal approves overhaul of Yariman Bakura hospital

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal has approved the complete overhaul of the Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau, the state capital to enhance healthcare delivery.

Governor Lawal gave the approval during the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting on Tuesday.

He said the approval which is with immediate effect aimed to upgrade the facility with modern equipments to ensure quality healthcare delivery.

The governor further stated that the decision was inline with his administration's declaration of state of emergency in the health sector.

He added that after the remodelling of the hospital, patients will no longer have to travel to Sokoto or Kaduna State for kidney dialysis or other critical medical tests.

He partly said: “The remodelling will begin immediately to restore the facility to a modern and functional tertiary health institution.

“Government’s decision is in line with the recent declaration of State of Emergency on the health sector in the state. 

“The Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau, lacks adequate medical equipment. As a result, patients have to travel to Sokoto or Kaduna for kidney dialysis and other critical medical tests.

“As part of the hospital’s remodelling plan, new structures and medical facilities will be built.

“Equipment and training will be provided to upgrade the hospital to a modern and well-equipped facility."
