Zamfara Varsity Construction Workers Abducted By Bandits

Shortly after reports of bandits kidnapping students of the institution, nine construction workers at the Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State have also been abducted.

AllNews Nigeria reports that an unspecified number of female students of the university were abducted in the early hours of Friday after the bandits invaded three female hostels.

One of the workers who identified himself as Ibrahim Mohammed told The Punch that the criminals arrived at the university on motorcycles in the early hours of Friday.

According to Mohammed, the bandits upon arrival broke into the building where the constitution workers were sleeping and took them away.

He noted that he jumped out through the window after which he took to his heels, escaping the bandits' wrath.

“When they broke into the building, they told us to come out and follow them.

“I was looking at the way to escape, then suddenly I jumped over the window and one of the bandits fired a shot but could not get me.”

Also speaking anonymously,  one of the security officers of the institution said, “Please bear with us. I am one of the security officers of this university.

“You know what happened with regard to the abduction of our students and the construction workers.

As of the time of filing this report, the university management had not commented on the situation.
